Results from the Dublin Tractor Pulling Championships Sunday 24th July 2005:

The search for Ireland's top tractor pullers continued at the Fingal Vintage Society show on Sunday 24th July. Over 50 competitors turned out to compete for places in the 2005 All Ireland Tractor Pulling Championships.

There were twelve entries in the lightest class of the day, the 6.5 Tonne class, which was won by Mark Gilmartin, Co. Dublin, driving a John Deere 6920S. In second place was Roger Flynn, Co. Louth, also in a John Deere 6920S, with Martin White, Co. Dublin coming in third in a New Holland TM150.

Kenny Quaile, Co. Louth, driving a John Deere 7810, was the winner of the 7.5 class, achieving the only Full Pull (110 metres) of that class. Nigel Healion, Co. Offaly, came in a very close second, not quite managing the full pull at 106.81m. He was driving a Case CVX 1190. In third place was Ian Rooney, Co. Dublin, in a Fendt Vario 818 with a pull of 102.33m.

James and Charles Hutcheson, Co. Dublin, took first and second place respectively in the 9 Tonne class, both driving a Ford 8870. Both finished well ahead of the rest of the field, James pulling 111.77m, and Charles 104.23m. In third spot with a pull of 96.23m was the winner of the 6.5 Tonne class, Mark Gilmartin, this time driving a John Deere 7810.

There was an impressive display of heavyweight tractors in the 11.5 Tonne class. After the first two pulls the starting field of eight was cut down to two as New Holland and John Deere went head-to-head through two pull-offs. Paul Daly, Co. Dublin, in a New Holland TG 285, eventually emerged the winner with a pull of 111.93m, ahead of Kenny Quaile, Co. Louth, in a John Deere 8920, with a pull of 103.96m. In third place was Barry White, Co. Dublin in a Fendt Vario 930.
