The new weight based classification system was put through its' paces and proved popular with the competitors, many of whom are tractor pulling veterans. The weight-based system, which replaces the horsepower classification system used since the sport's introduction to Ireland, has been adopted in order to come into line with Europe, following the IITPA's acceptance as members of the European Tractor Pulling Committee. All tractors are weighed on the day of competition and allocated to categories based on their weight.
